I offer my condolences to the family of Jim Prentice who was lost in a plane crash today.
I faced off against Jim many times in the House of Commons but I had the greatest respect for him. He was a Timmins boy and his mom and my dad were childhood friends.
Once during a tense meeting as Indian Affairs minister, he surprised the officials by handing me a photograph of the 1943 Holman Pluggers hockey team. It included his dad and Uncle Doc and Dean Prentice, Allan Stanley and Pete Babando. Bill Barilko was the stick boy. Carlo Catterello was the coach. We had fun talking about those days and then it was back to business.
Go to the Angels Jim. You carried yourself with integrity and professionalism.
